Mrs. S. is a 37-year-old Caucasian female who sought care at her home institution overseas during a period of several months for complaints of esophageal reflux, constipation, early satiety, increasing abdominal girth, and fatigue. Upon presentation at her home institution, her weight was 237 pounds, with a body mass index (BMI) of 42.77 kg/m2. Nutritional consultation was obtained to facilitate weight loss and the patient was prescribed a bowel regimen for constipation.
